Frequently asked questions about holiday pay

How is holiday pay calculated?

Holiday pay is calculated as a percentage of what you earned the previous year (the holiday pay basis). The standard rate is 10.2% for 4 weeks and 1 day holiday, and 12% for those with 5 weeks holiday (tariff agreement). Bonuses can be included in the basis, but not travel expenses or last year's holiday pay.

What is the rate for holiday pay if you are over 60?

Employees who turn 60 or more during the holiday year are entitled to an extra week of holiday. This means that the rate increases by 2.3 percentage points. For a standard holiday, the rate is 12.5%, and for a 5-week agreed holiday it is 14.3%.
