How to calculate electricity consumption in kWh?
To calculate power consumption in kilowatt hours (kWh), you divide the appliance's output in Wattss by 1000, and multiply that by the number of hours the appliance is on. A 2000W panel oven that is on for 3 hours uses 6 kWh (2000/1000 = 2 kW * 3 hours = 6 kWh).
How much does it cost to shower for 10 minutes?
Heating water requires a lot of energy. A normal shower head uses approx. 16 liters per minute. Showering for 10 minutes can quickly use 5-7 kWh of electricity via the water heater. If the total electricity price is 150 cents/kWh (NOK 1.50), the shower will cost between NOK 7.50 and NOK 10.50.
