Frequently asked questions about savings and investment

What is the compound interest effect (Compound Interest)?

Albert Einstein is said to have called compound interest the eighth wonder of the world. It is the concept where you not only earn interest on your deposit, but eventually also start earning interest on the interest you have already earned. This means that the graph for your wealth eventually bends steeply upwards, especially after 10-15 years.

What is the expected return?

In a regular savings account at the bank, the interest rate is usually between 2% and 5%. Historically, global index funds often expect an average annual return of around 7% to 10%. The stock market, on the other hand, fluctuates much more from year to year than a bank account.
