Caloric Calculator (TDEE)
Calculate how many calories your body needs each day.
How it works: This calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation (the most accurate scientific method) to calculate your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE). Enter your age, gender, weight, height, and activity level to see how much you should eat to lose, gain, or maintain weight.

Frequently asked questions about calories
What is TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure)?
TDEE stands for your total daily energy consumption. This is the number of calories your body burns in 24 hours. The number is the sum of your resting metabolic rate (BMR - the calories the body needs just to keep the organs running) plus the calories you burn through daily activity and exercise.
How many calories to lose weight?
The general scientific recommendation for sustainable weight loss is to stay in a caloric deficit of approximately 500 calories per day below your TDEE. One kilogram of body fat contains approximately 7,000 calories, so a daily deficit of 500 kcal will lead to approximately 0.5 kg weight loss per week.
