Frequently asked questions about blood alcohol levels
How long does it take to burn alcohol?
The general rule in Norway is that you burn approx. 0.15 parts per thousand per hour (varies from 0.10 to 0.25 in healthy people). Neither coffee, exercise, sleep nor a sauna can speed up the burning of alcohol, only the liver does the work, and it takes the time it takes.
When can I drive after drinking?
In Norway, the law's absolute blood alcohol limit is 0.2 ‰ for driving a motor vehicle. However, you should always calculate a good margin and wait until you are absolutely sure that you are at 0.0 ‰. "Day after" driving is a very common reason for license suspension.
